Howard Chen

Howard Chen is a pianist and music educator who holds a Master of Music in Keyboard Studies and a Master of Science in Music Industry from the USC Thornton School of Music, where he studied piano with Bernadene Blaha and Antoinette Perry. He also earned his Bachelor of Arts in Music with a specialization in piano performance from the University of California, Irvine, where he studied with Dr. Lorna Griffitt.

Howard has performed at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall and in concert venues throughout the United States and Europe. His international experience includes performing a Liszt piano concerto in Europe through the International Association of Professional Music Teachers (IAPMT) and participating in the Orfeo Music Festival in Italy. Most recently, he was awarded First Place in the Orfeo International Piano Competition. His other honors include First Prize in the solo division of the MTAC Statewide Solo & Concerto Competition, as well as awards from the International Los Angeles Liszt Piano Competition, the Southwestern Youth Music Festival (SYMF), and multiple IAPMT competitions.

As an educator, Howard combines strong technical and musical foundations with patience, encouragement, and individualized guidance. He strives to help each student develop confidence, artistic expression, and a lasting appreciation for music.
